First step to understanding the world
Montessori Object Permanence Box introduces babies to a fundamental law of physics - objects don't disappear even when out of sight. This classic material develops key cognitive skills during the most important period of brain development.
How it works: The child drops a coin into the slot on top of the box and watches it disappear. To find the coin, the baby pulls out the drawer - and there it is! This simple process trains understanding that things exist even outside the field of vision.
Age-specific development: At 10-13 months, children develop the concept of "object permanence." Before this age, babies believe that a disappeared object is gone forever. The box helps navigate this important developmental milestone painlessly.
What develops:
- Object permanence - understanding existence of things outside field of vision
- Fine motor skills - precise finger movements when dropping coins
- Pincer grasp - proper holding of small objects
- Hand-eye coordination - synchronization of visual perception and movements
- Bilateral coordination - one hand holds box, other pulls drawer
- Concentration - focusing on the task
- Cause-effect relationships - understanding action results
Natural child need: All children in early age feel the need to put objects into holes and containers. This isn't just entertainment, but important work in forming neural connections and understanding the physical world.
Independent play: The box encourages independent play without adult intervention. Children can repeat the action as many times as needed to master the concept.
Made from natural ash and beech wood, finished with a blend of oils and beeswax. Five wooden coins optimally sized for little hands.
