A classic Montessori material designed to develop hand-eye coordination, bilateral hand use, and understanding of object permanence. Around 13 months, children become fascinated by the idea that objects don’t disappear forever when out of sight — this box lets them explore that concept through play.
The knitted ball is slightly larger than the opening, encouraging the child to apply effort to push it through. The drawer challenges the child to coordinate wrist movements and follow a sequence: pull out the drawer, retrieve the ball, close the drawer, and repeat.
This self-correcting material allows children to notice and learn from their own mistakes without adult intervention.
